Peng Wensheng, PhD. in Economics, currently serves as Chief Economist, Head of Research Department, and President of CICC Research Institute. Formerly the global chief economist and head of the research department of Everbright Securities and CITIC Securities, chief China economist of Barclays Capital, director of the Economic Research Department and Mainland China Affairs Department of the Hong Kong Monetary Authority, and economics of the International Monetary Fund (IMF). He currently serves as a member of the Currency Issuance Committee of the Hong Kong Exchange Fund Advisory Committee, Vice Chairman of the Chief Economist Forum, a member of the China Financial Forty Forum, a doctoral tutor at the School of Finance at Nankai University, a graduate tutor at the PBC School of Finance at Tsinghua University, and a member of the Tsinghua University School of Economics and Management Distinguished Professor of Practice at the College and Distinguished Professor of Practice at Fanhai International School of Finance, Fudan University. He received a PhD and a master's degree in economics from the University of Birmingham in the UK, a bachelor’s degree in economics from Nankai University, and studied at the Graduate School of the People’s Bank of China. He has extensive experience in the field of macroeconomic and financial research. He has published many papers in international academic journals and many books in Chinese and English. In 2013, he published “The Fading Dividends - Looking for China’s New Balance” and won the first “Sun Yefang Financial Innovation Award·Book Award” in 2015. In June 2017, he published the book “The Fading Financial Cycle”, and won the 6th Financial Book “Golden Sheep Award” in 2018.
