Lu Ting, Managing Director of Nomura Securities and Chief China Economist. He obtained his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in economics from Peking University, and then obtained his doctorate in economics from the University of California, Berkeley. In 2006, he joined the Merrill Lynch Global Macro Research Department and later served as chief economist and managing director of Bank of America Merrill Lynch Greater China. From the beginning of 2015 to May 2018, he served as the director of the research institute, chief economist and managing director of Huatai Securities. Lu Ting has received many honors in the industry, including being named the Chinese economist with the most accurate forecasts by Bloomberg News in 2010 and 2011. From 2013 to 2015, he was ranked first among economists in Asia by Institutional Investor magazine for three consecutive years, and in 2021, he was ranked first among Asian bond market economists by The Asset. Lu Ting is also a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA), and serves as vice chairman of the Hong Kong China Finance Association, director of the China Chief Economist Forum, and special invited member of CF40.
