As an outstanding leader, president and CEO of the Global Association of Risk Professionals (GARP), Mr. Rich Apostolik has successfully achieved success with his extraordinary leadership for 25 years. He has promoted the development of the Financial Risk Manager (FRM®) certification program into the world’s leading financial risk management certification system. Under Mr. Rich’s leadership, GARP also successfully developed the world’s first climate risk certification—Sustainability and Climate Risk (SCR) certificate program, established GARP’s global membership mechanism, and successfully developed and established the GARP Risk Institute and GARP Benchmarking Initiative. In addition, he also actively convenes the world’s top risk management experts and regulatory agencies to jointly face and solve the most pressing cutting-edge risk management issues. Prior to taking over the leadership role at GARP, Mr. Rich gained extensive experience at Bankers Trust’s, Deutsche Bank’s strategic investment group, and JPMorgan & Co. He founded and ran his own consulting firm and was responsible for launching SG Warburg & Co.’s North American futures and options business. Rich also served as legal counsel to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission and as in-house counsel to the Chicago Mercantile Exchange. Rich holds a bachelor’s degree, an MBA and a JD from the University of Dayton.
