Dr. Gao Shanwen is one of the most influential economists in the field of China’s capital market and economic policy. He is currently the chief economist of Essence Securities, an industry tutor at Tsinghua University PBC School of Finance, the editor and the member of the academic committee of “Tsinghua Financial Review”. Member of the Academic Committee of the China Finance 40 Forum, President of the Federation of Peking University Finance Alumni Associations, etc.

Dr. Gao Shanwen focuses on tracking, analyzing and predicting China’s macroeconomic trends, studying and judging the direction of macroeconomic policies, and analyzing the impact on the capital market based on this. He has accumulated rich experience in the fields of China’s inflation formation mechanism, production capacity periodic fluctuations and asset price changes, and established an independent logical analysis system. His insightful analysis and forward-looking prediction on many major economic issues has received widespread attention in the industry.

Dr. Gao Shanwen received a Bachelor of Science (1988-1992) and a Master of Economics (1992-1995) from Peking University, and a PhD (1999-2005) from the Graduate School of the People’s Bank of China (the predecessor of Tsinghua University PBC School of Finance). Before joining Essence Securities in 2007, he worked at Everbright Securities (2003-2007) and the General Office of the People’s Bank of China (1995-2002).
